Westerns Editorial Review

"Joe Kidd" is a Western film starring Clint Eastwood as the title character, a former bounty hunter turned rancher who is hired by a land baron portrayed by Robert Duvall to track down a Mexican renegade played by John Saxon. Though the film has its merits, such as the beautiful scenery, horsemanship, and most of the acting, it falls short in comparison to other Eastwood Westerns. The script is weak, and there are too many unrealistic scenes and takes that make the plot seem ridiculous. Additionally, much of the gunplay is subpar for a Western, with too many extras in some scenes. Nevertheless, "Joe Kidd" is still worth watching, particularly for fans of Westerns and Clint Eastwood.
