Drama Editorial Review
Stalker (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray] is a mesmerizing film directed by Andrei Tarkovsky that delves into complex existential themes and human desires within a mysterious, dangerous Zone. The film cleverly contrasts three characters—an artist/writer, a scientist, and the Stalker—who journey through an enigmatic landscape where deep philosophical questions arise. Viewers appreciate how Tarkovsky employs rich visuals and a slow-paced narrative that encourages introspection and self-examination, reminiscent of profound psychedelic experiences. The new Blu-ray transfer has garnered praise, reflecting the film's iconic visual style while maintaining its deep symbolic meaning that challenges conventional interpretations of art and science.
