The Yamaha EAD10 is a versatile tool for drummers of all levels. The module is easy to set up, and users can mount it using an old cymbal stand or a clamp on the hi-hat. The mic array and trigger sensor work well to pick up the full drum kit, although it is not impervious to bleed from other sources. The product comes with one module mount, two cables, and one power supply, but users will need to supply their own 3.5 mm audio cable to go to the aux jack and an appropriate cable for the Rec n Share app. The Android app came out in Fall 2019. The EAD10 has its Pros and Cons. On the plus side, it offers great functionality and turns an acoustic kit into an electronic one, without the typical e-drum annoyances. The Evans dB ONE mesh heads deliver actual tone, although low in volume. The EAD10 is also a great tool for recording, with the Rec n Share app enabling users to record sound and video, and to take tracks from the music library and make click-tracks. Moreover, it is easy to connect to a laptop and to use Jamkazam to play live with band members online. However, there are some drawbacks. Some users may find the product pricey, and it may require additional purchases, such as the Yamaha CSAT924 Parallel Multiclamp Cymbal Stand Attachment, the lightning to USB3 camera adapter, or a USB 2.0 printer cable, depending on the intended use. Some users have also experienced difficulty with the trigger page for the kick drum, which fails to pick up vibration from the kick drum.
