Özel ders vererek geçimini sağlayan Demba, kız arkadaşını başka bir erkekle İtalya'ya gitmekten caydırmak için para bulmaya çalışır. Roman, onun bu uğurda şehirde çaresizce koşturduğu bir günü anlatır.
